Please consider sponsoring the Hotrodding for Heroes Classic Car Show!

Help us help veterans with college scholarships!

The Hot Rodding for Heroes Classic Auto Show mission is to turn our passion for cars into local support for our nation’s veterans. It has been designed with the principals of featuring our favorite parts of owning a classic car; driving it and sharing it with the public while benefiting a tremendous charity, the Veteran’s Bridge Scholarship. Available to Santa Fe College and the University of Florida students, this provides returning veterans funds to bridge the time between their discharge and when their veteran’s benefits arrive.

The Hot Rodding for Heroes Classic Auto Tour is proudly hosted by one of the most picturesque and charming settings that North Florida has to offer: the Haile Plantation Village Center. Cars will start to arrive at 8:30am, and will be distributed throughout the Village Center, along with area vendors, food, live music, and a host of other amenities. The event is free to the public.

Congratulations to our very own Leslie Burke!

Leslie Burke, Commercial Realtor®, has just been recognized by the Gainesville Alachua County Association of Realtors for earning the prestigious GRI designation. NAR describes the GRI designation as follows:

The Graduate, REALTOR® Institute (GRI) symbol is the mark of a real estate professional who has made the commitment to provide a high level of professional services by securing a strong educational foundation.

Buying property is a complex and stressful task. In fact, it’s often the biggest single investment you will make in your lifetime. At the same time, real estate transactions have become increasingly complicated.

New technology, laws, procedures and the increasing sophistication of buyers and sellers requires real estate practitioners to perform at an ever-increasing level of professionalism.

GRI designees:

Have developed a solid foundation of knowledge and skills to navigate the current real estate climate—no matter what its condition.
Are recognized nationally.
Act with professionalism and are committed to serving their clients and customers with the highest ethical standards.

Congratulations Leslie!

Legislative update from Great American Realtor Days

Dave Ferro and Candis Pressley of Ferro Real Estate Partners  traveled with 40 plus other Realtors from Gainesville to Great American Realtor Days in Tallahassee this past Tuesday. Every year we travel there to meet with our legislative delegation, including Representative Clovis Watson, Representative Elizabeth Porter, Representative Keith Perry and Senator Rob Bradley. We are blessed with legislators who understand the importance of private property rights and a strong economy. We at Ferro Real Estate Partners have built a strong reputation for service above self, and we are proud to spend our time working to improve the quality of life for all in Alachua County and the State of Florida. Please read the press release below to learn more about the event and legislative initiatives supported by Florida Realtors.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – March 5, 2015 – It was a sea of Realtor blue in Tallahassee yesterday, as nearly 1,000 Florida Realtors members wearing blue t-shirts bearing the Realtor logo gathered in the Capitol Courtyard to rally for real estate issues.

“Whether you’ve already visited your legislators or still have more meetings this afternoon, we know you’re representing us well,” said 2015 Florida Realtors President Andrew Barbar, a broker from Boca Raton. “Your time here has a profound impact on the future of your businesses, your profession and the people of Florida.”

Lt. Governor Carlos Lopez-Cantera, a Realtor from Miami, and Rep. Matt Hudson (R-Naples), who is also a Realtor, joined Barbar on the steps of the Florida Historic Capitol Museum.

“[Realtors] grow communities. We make for a strong state. We do the things necessary to make sure Florida and our communities are vibrant,” Hudson said. “That comes from your engagement, your activities in this process and your willingness to come up here to talk about your issues.”
Nearly 1,000 Realtors attended Great American Realtor Days this week to advocate for Florida Realtors’ legislative priorities. Four of Florida Realtors’ 2015 legislative priorities advanced in the Florida House and Senate yesterday:

  • SB 140, a proposal to cut the commercial lease sales tax by 1 percent, passed its first committee; HB 557, legislation that would reform the Florida Insurance Guaranty Association to attract private market capital to the state, passed the House Insurance & Banking Subcommittee.
  • HB 611, a bill to cap fees charged by community associations for estoppel certificates, cleared the House Civil Justice Subcommittee.
  • HB 7003, the House version of a statewide water policy, was read a second time before the full chamber and is expected to pass the House today.
