The February 2013 GACAR Commercial Council Meeting was held today at the GACAR Building in Gainesville. Many thanks to the sponsor, Alex Jordan with Cox Business. Erik Bredfeldt, Economic Development and Innovation Director for the City of Gainesville, was the featured speaker. Erik did a great job of describing his view of Government’s relationship with the private sector as it relates to growth and development. He expressed the idea of collaboration between the private and public sectors, and suggested that people get involved in the process via advisory boards and local elections. He is interested in being notified about and possibly touring those properties that might lend themselves to use by businesses wanting to move into Gainesville. He also said he would be available for specific projects in an ombudsman role to help facilitate planning, permitting etc.
